If you love outdoor warm-weather activities like mountain biking, trail running or hiking, the unmatched variety of trails within Sawyer and Bayfield County Forests and the Chequamegon National Forest are don’t-miss experiences. Outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy paddling can easily access the river and lakes; The St. Croix National Scenic Riverway is three miles to the west, while the Spider Chain of five interconnected lakes is only three miles to the east. On a warm sunny day, treat yourself to a swim at spring-fed Silverthorn Lake’s sandy beach with picturesque pine trees and no motorized boats — also in Seeley. Winter activities include over 75 miles of groomed FAT bike/snowshoe trails, and nordic skiing directly from your cabin to the Birkie Trail’s 90k of cross country skiing heaven on snow.
